Join The Super Backpack Brigade – newest superhero squad to conquer Pittsburgh!

The Superhero Foundation is teaming up with the Light of Life Rescue Mission to provide backpacks and school supplies to children who are abused, neglected and in need. On August 21, 2010 we will have our 1st Superhero Backpack Brigade event at Windwood Park in Wexford.

Bring school supplies and your friends to Windwood Park and for the $2 admission fee you will enjoy food, drinks, swimming, sand volleyball, tennis, basketball and door prizes. All the backpacks benefit school-aged children in the Women and Children’s program at Light of Life.

Sandwiches and chips provided by T-Bones, Sheetz and FritoLay.

The first annual Superhero to the Rescue award will be presented to John and Ann Szurley, a couple from Cranberry who are involved with both organizations. Additionally, Ann volunteers with the Girl Scouts as a leader with a focus on community service and John serves on the board of the Cranberry CUP, an organization that has raised over $500K to support needy families. John also has been involved with Children’s Charities Foundation since 1995 and currently serves as Director of Girls’ Hockey for the North Pittsburgh Youth Hockey Association.

Remember each filled backpack will go to a child in need in our area.
